Support Groups

Support comes in many forms, and sometimes what is needed is that sense of community that was lost.   Check out some of the resources below, that specialize in forming that new community and providing support with and by people who have been where you are.

Allegiance Ranch -   "At Allegiance Ranch, we strive to provide a safe and welcoming place for veterans, active duty military, first responders, and their families, to find release from every day challenges. Allegiance Ranch Veteran Musters -  "Please join us for our monthly Allegiance Ranch Veteran Muster and bonfire. The purpose of the ARR Muster is to provide a forum for military veterans and first responders to come together for connection, support, sharing stories, or simply spending time with like-minded comrades. Coast x Coast -   “Founded by Special Operations members to provide healing treatments to those in need.  Our mission is to honor fallen U.S. Special Operations Forces, and enhance the quality of life of wounded members.  As we honor the memories of fallen Special Operations Soldiers by sharing their stories, we are able to raise funds to provide alternative medical treatment for active and non-active veterans still dealing with injuries from war.”

Combat Vets Association ~  “We are an Association of Combat Veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces who ride motorcycles as a hobby. As a registered 501(c)(19) veterans’ charity, our mission is to support and protect those who have defended our country and our freedoms. Our focus is to provide assistance and help to individual veterans, veteran care facilities, other veteran organizations and registered charities. We sponsor and participate in many veteran-related motorcycle (and other) charity events each year, and as a non-profit organization, donate to various veteran causes. The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Auxiliary (CVMA®-A) administers a scholarship program for CVMA or CVMAA members and their spouses, children, and grandchildren.”

Combat Warriors, Inc -   “The mission of Combat Warriors Inc. is to honor and support, emotionally and financially, the commitment and courage of our combat veterans. We meet this challenge by providing our veterans with quality outdoor experiences they will never forget, and by reaching out to our veterans to build relationships that we will never fail to treasure.”  

Danny Dietz Foundation -  (832)877-1177 “The Danny Dietz Foundation is a Nonprofit Dedicated to Supporting Our American Special Ops Forces, First Responders and their Surviving Families. We provide immediate financial grants to alleviate some of the burdens for a Special Operator that has suffered combat related injuries or a First Responder that has suffered job related injuries.  For surviving families, we provide financial help that is not covered under the larger benevolent programs.”

Face the Fight -  "Founded by USAA, Face the Fight is a coalition of corporations, foundations, nonprofit and veteran-focused organizations joined together to raise awareness and support for veteran suicide prevention. Our mission is to break the stigmas surrounding suicide in order to open conversation and support around the topic. Facing the reality of veteran suicide is a struggle. But when people face this fight together there is hope." 

Flanders Fields -     "Veterans Supporting Veterans. Flanders Fields mission is to ensure that each and every Military Veteran has a helping hand when they need one. This mission extends to all US Veterans and their families, including our foreign allies who served our Nation."

Gi Go Fund ~   “GI Go Fund was founded in 2006 in memory of Lt. Seth Dvorin, a childhood friend of the GI Go founders who was killed by an IED blast while serving in Iraq.   We provide employment assistance to veterans looking for work, housing and financial aid to veterans in their most desperate hour, as well as benefits assistance and legal support to military families struggling with civil or criminal matters. In addition, we are developing innovative programs to give veterans assistance in finding employment and developing a small business, transportation support, mentoring, job training, and much more.

Hope for 22 a Day ~  HOPEFOR22ADAY helps give Military Spouses the tools they need to battle Soldiers Mental Health.  Our mission is To provide the veteran and families an opportunity to succeed in battling the daily challenges of civilian transition.”

Hope For the Warriors -   (877)246-7349  “The Warrior Hope and Care Centers™ provide medical care, mental health counseling, professional training and education, physical conditioning and transition services for wounded, ill, and injured Marines and Sailors.  The concept for the Warrior Hope and Care Centers was conceived by Hope For The Warriors leadership after attending the ribbon cutting for the Center for the Intrepid (CFI) in San Antonio, Texas in 2007. It was the goal of Hope For The Warriors to provide Marines and Sailors based at Camp Lejeune the same quality care as those at CFI. Architectural plans for the Warrior Hope and Care Center were drawn and Hope For The Warriors donated those plans to the Marine Corps.”

Irreverent Warriors - “The mission of Irreverent Warriors is to bring Veterans together using humor and camaraderie to improve mental health and prevent Veteran suicide.  Irreverent Warriors knows that the best support network for veterans, is other veterans. We bring a community of warriors together through therapeutic events across the country. We also work with other veteran organizations who provide services such as job placement, training, housing, service dogs and more.

Marine Reconnaissance Foundation -  (808)351-1573  “The Marine Reconnaissance Foundation’s programs focus on alleviating the demands accompanying service within the Reconnaissance Community.  All supported initiatives are aimed to enrich the well-being of our warriors and their families.  We provide wide-ranging support programs, to include an extensive assessment of our programs contributing directly to the success and preservation of the Reconnaissance Legacy.  We continually research the community’s needs shaping our future program development and funding.  Our mission is implemented by way of support to the Active-Duty and Veteran Reconnaissance community, their families, and the families of the fallen in three programs.”

Michael Strange Foundation -  The foundation will provide unconditional support and services to the families of recently fallen service members by professionals in several fields and also by those who have suffered similar losses so that the healing process can begin.  It is our experience that there is an overwhelming outpouring of support initially, but it is the following months that are the most difficult when the ceremonies fade away and there is a lack of people who truly understand what it means to suffer such a devastating and traumatic loss.”

Military Family Advisory Network -   (202) 821-4195The Military Family Advisory Network (MFAN) was created in 2013 to connect military families with the resources they need to thrive. MFAN convenes military, reservists, and veteran spouses — some of whom are veterans themselves — who are dedicated to improving the lives of military families. MFAN is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to building a community of military and veteran families, at home and abroad, who are well-informed about resources designed to serve them, equipped with tools for success, connected to leaders who serve the military family community, and embraced by the general public.  MFAN translates the needs of military families in a way that service providers can understand and translates services in a way that speaks to our families. We convene leaders of the military family community who, through collaboration with outside organizations and effective communications, elevate and amplify the voice of military families everywhere.

National Warrior Foundation -   “We are dedicated to making an impact by supplying morale-based programming that will empower our Warriors’ mental well-being.  The National Warrior Foundation seeks to create and provide uplifting morale programming for our active duty, veterans and first responders.  We welcome all active duty, national guard, reservists, and veterans regardless of discharge status. We also take pride in supporting all of our first responders—this includes law enforcement, fire fighters, paramedics/EMT, nurses, and 911 dispatchers.”

Patriot Resilient Leader Institute -  (978)219-4003 “The Patriot Resilient Leader Institute runs Camp Resilience Retreats to help service members, veterans, first responders and their loved ones recover and maintain their physical, psychological and emotional well-being.  These free 3-4 day retreats combine per-to-peer counseling ,life skills workshops and outdoor experiential learning.  Camp Resilience strives to provide attendees with the tools to develop self-improvement goals and sustained ties to the community.  The retreats stress the importance of camaraderie and wellness in fostering resilience.”  

Post Traumatic Purpose ~  Travis Howze, known as The Motivational Speaker for First Responders and their families, is an international touring speaker, author, and motivational wellness educator who spent 14 years in the military and emergency services as a U.S. Marine, Police Officer and Firefighter.  Post Traumatic Purpose is the Life Changing Mental Health Movement that brings awareness to all Military Personnel, Veterans, First Responders, Jailers, Dispatchers, Health Care workers and their family members through hard transparent relatability. Not your typical check in the box wellness training, Post Traumatic Purpose is Real, Raw, Emotionally Energizing and Highly Engaging. It is designed to stimulate positive growth at the individual, professional and family level through ownership, acceptance, humor and motivation.  Spouses and family members are highly encouraged to attend Post Traumatic Purpose Events.

Recon & Sniper Foundation (RSF) -   The Recon & Sniper Foundation was founded in 2015 by a group of Recon Marines, Scout Snipers, and Navy SARCs.  The Foundation's mission is twofold, emergency assistance and veteran community engagement. We assist current service members and veterans from all branches of the Armed Forces. Assistance can be in the form of financial help, peer counseling, mental health treatment, or any other feasible and viable form of aid. Emergency requests are submitted via the Recon & Sniper Foundation website and assessed by experienced case managers, who ensure the request for assistance is legitimate.  In addition to the mission of emergency assistance, the Recon & Sniper Foundation also provides various preventative mental health events throughout the year. From individual and group therapy in the mountains of Colorado at Rawah Ranch to veteran get-togethers in southern California, the Foundation provides veterans with a variety of ways to address their mental health, emphasizing prevention and long-term care.

Shields and Stripes ~ “Shields and Stripes prioritizes the health and wellness of Veterans, Law Enforcers, and First Responders.  Shields and Stripes provides first line defenders the opportunity to heal visible and non-visible wounds, helping those we need the most to live meaningful lives in service to our communities.  Shields and Stripes is a 3-week in-person and a 9-week virtual program that will provide our warriors with holistic, evidence based and multi-disciplinary healthcare to learn, build and grow.”

Snowball Express ~  “Gary Sinise Foundation Snowball Express serves the surviving spouses and children of fallen heroes. We are committed to year-round programming and support for families that honors their fallen hero, encourages them to make new memories, and provides opportunities to connect with others who know what they’ve been through.”

Soldiers Angels -  (210)629-0020  “Our global network of volunteers — representing all 50 states, Guam, Puerto Rico, and 24 countries abroad — work to ensure that those who serve or have served are supported, uplifted, and remembered through a variety of support programs.”

Special Operations Warrior Foundation -    (877)337-7693  “The Special Operations Warrior Foundation’s enduring promise to America’s Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps Special Operations personnel is to:  (1) Ensure full financial assistance for post-secondary education from an accredited two or four-year college, university, technical or trade school, as well as educational counseling, preschool grants, and tutoring to the surviving children of Special Operations personnel who lose their lives in the line-of-duty and, (2) Provide immediate financial grants to severely combat-wounded and hospitalized Special Operations personnel and their families."

Special Forces Foundation -  “The Special Forces Foundation (formerly the Green Beret Association), serves the U.S. Army Special Forces and their families, providing a range of programs aligned with the SOCOM Commanders’ Preservation of The Force and Family (POTFF) program.  Our programs contribute to the maintenance of the mind and body, and provide acute and ongoing support in resolving psychological, emotional and relationship issues before they become chronic. 

Team Fidelis -  “Our mission is to prevent suicide among service members, Veterans and families by raising awareness, providing a Bridge of Hope and building Camaraderie.  Providing hope to our Veterans is our top priority.  When a service member or veteran joins Team Fidelis, they are connected with a Veteran Navigator (VN).  The VN’s our the lifeblood of our organization.  They all live the experience and are in recovery themselves, which allows them to connect with their brothers and sisters in a way no one else can.”

Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors ~  (800)959-8277  (24/7 support)   “TAPS provides compassionate care to all those grieving the death of a military loved one.   Since 1994, TAPS has provided comfort and hope 24/7 through a national peer support network and connection to grief resources, all at no cost to surviving families and loved ones.  TAPS provides a variety of programs to survivors nationally and worldwide. Our National Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp has been held annually in Washington, D.C., over Memorial Day weekend since 1994. TAPS also conducts regional survivor seminars for adults and youth programs at locations across the country, as well as retreats and expeditions around the world. Staff can get you connected to counseling in your community and help navigate benefits and resources.   If you are grieving the loss of a fallen service member, or if you know someone who can use our support, the TAPS 24/7 National Military Survivor Helpline is always available toll-free with loving support and resources at 800-959-TAPS (8277).”

Uncommon Grit Foundation ~   "We have a soft spot and a deep respect for military, first responders, and the family members who stand beside them. These are the people who run toward danger, toward the crisis, toward those who need help. Uncommon Grit Foundation assists qualified families or individuals directly to alleviate the financial burden of things like funeral costs, travel to funerals, living expenses, mental health costs, healthcare bills, or other expenses.  With our connections in the military, experience in the nonprofit world, and a strong network of patriots, we have an ear to the ground for where assistance may be needed most. Warrior Wishes Montana - (406)200-9445  “Warrior Wishes Montana is based in Billings, Montana and is ran by volunteers. Warrior Wishes Montana, Inc. offers programs to Montana Veterans and active service members, in addition to monthly events.  Warrior Wishes Montana, Inc. offers various types of assistance to Veterans and active service members. Requests  including experiencing financial hardship, recovering from a disaster, trying to go to school or are a justice involved Veteran.”

Veterans Path -  - VP provides high quality, veteran-specific mindfulness training and support to build inner strength and resilience.

Wind River Ranch  (970)586-4212 “Wind River Ranch is a Christian-based family dude and guest ranch resort in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.  Since 2013, we have had the honor of ministering to the families of servicemen and women who have been injured during their time in the Armed Forces and/or Public Service, or who have retired from service.  During (4) dedicated weeks during the summer season, we bring warriors together to heal, to reconnect with their families, and to create a community with one another.”

Wounded Warrior Family Support -   (402)502-7557   Caregiver Respite, Family Retreats, Veteran Training.  "Wounded Warriors Family Support is an independent nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide support to the families of those who have been wounded, injured or killed during combat operations.   The families of our casualties suffer in many ways — emotionally, physically, and psychologically. Our organization supports wounded veterans and their families, even after physical needs are met, to help them heal, recover and reconnect.
